Farewell Frenchy

Our new pet hen named Frenchy was 4.5 months old
when she came to live with us on 2nd June 2018.
Frenchy in her younger years.
Frenchy laid her first brown egg on 26th July 2018 (egg pictured on the right).
Frenchy's first Christmas in 2018. She was nearly 1 year old.
Frenchy peeks around the door, always on the look out for snacks.
Two year old Frenchy was a beautiful French Wheaten Maran hen.
Frenchy had a characteristic white fluffy bum.
Four year old Frenchy like to perch under the outdoor table.
Five year old Frenchy loved sitting on the log more than her half-sister Speckles.

Frenchy loved food and she ate A LOT OF FOOD.
We nick named her 'Frenchy the Foody'.
Even though she ate food and wasn't hungry,
she always wanted yummy snacks and treats.
Frenchy sun bathing Easter 2021. What a relaxing life.
A funny photo of Frenchy sleeping with her neck stretched out on the ground.

Frenchy aged 8, two days before she died.
This photo was taken on Frenchy's last day on earth on 15th January 2026.
Frenchy was very sick with a floppy, small comb and kidney failure
from old age. Her nice fluffy feathers hid how much weight she lost.
Lydia was shocked at the vet check to hear that Frenchy's weight
had dropped from 2.3kg to 1.3kg due to old age illness.
This is the last photo taken of Frenchy aged 8 years old. It was like her
body expired at her age expectancy of 8. After 5 days of Frenchy being
lethargic with little appetite, we sadly asked the lovely vet Melissa
to euthanise Frenchy. We have lots of photos of Frenchy to remember her
by and we will miss our little French hen who was such a food-loving character.
Her half-sister Speckles misses her too.
Frenchy, may you be a happy hen forever.
